After another long journey Tractor number 2 arrived. For this shipment we routed through Ghana, which caused different issues for as the container was transported overland through Ghana to Burkina Faso. We used a colleague at Cargill, Michael Amoako, who is from Ghana but lives in Minneapolis now, to help us on the container freight. Thanks to Michael for his help. The bagged fertilizer in this shipment created some complications for us as we were clearing customs, but in the end the container arrived safely to its destination in Burkina Faso. For this shipment we donated the container, i.e. allowing the container to remain at destination. We hope the container can be used for storage of farm equipment and bagged grain after harvest. We had some fun upon arrival as the receivers figured out how to get the container off the truck, but eventually everything was unloaded safely, with many smiling faces. Every step we take in this venture we learn, and we will be using these learnings to improve future shipments.
